Tips for Getting Better Sleep: Part 1

Do you struggle to fall or stay asleep at night? Do you find yourself tossing and turning every night when you go to bed? Do you wake up again and again only to be exhausted when it’s time to get up?

Unfortunately, getting a good night of sleep doesn’t happen easily for everyone. There are ways, however, to help you sleep better at night. In today’s blog from Return Healthy, we’ll discuss some of our favorite tips for getting better sleep, including the use of our natural health supplements for sleep support. Our products are made right here in the USA by Dr. Vosloo, a doctor who believes in giving you a natural option to find the relief you need from troublesome symptoms and other conditions like occasional insomnia. Create a Routine

While you may have heard that it’s best to wait until you are tired to go to bed, it’s actually more beneficial to go to bed at the same time every night and get up at the same time every morning, even on the weekends. This will help your body’s circadian rhythm, or it’s internal clock, stay regular and know when it’s time to sleep and when it’s time to be awake. By keeping your routine, your body will naturally be ready to sleep when your bedtime rolls around every day.

Skip the Afternoon Nap

While naps are great, it’s better to skip those afternoon naps, or, if you must rest your eyes for a minute, keep it to 20 minutes max. Long naps can throw off that circadian rhythm that we talked about earlier, and make it more difficult to fall asleep when your bedtime rolls around. Don’t replace that afternoon nap with an extra cup of coffee, either. Drinking caffeine late in the day can give you a late boost of energy that will want to keep you up late into the night.

Instead, drink a full glass of water and eat a healthy snack like an apple or some carrots. These healthy options will give your body just enough energy to help you get through the afternoon and still feel sleepy when it comes time to go to bed.

Get Support From Natural Health Supplements

In order for the body to be ready to sleep, it produces melatonin. Melatonin is a hormone produced by the brain in response to darkness. If you’re struggling to fall asleep, it may be because your melatonin production is blocked. At Return Healthy, we have created a natural health supplement called Melatonin SRT that provides 6 mg of sustained release melatonin to help regulate sleep and your body’s circadian rhythm, making it easier for you to fall asleep and stay asleep through the night.

If you’re having trouble falling asleep, just one tablet taken 20 minutes before bedtime can help your body relax and wind-down, making it easier to fall asleep and enjoy a great night of rest night after night.

Create a Calm, Dark Environment

When you go to bed at night, do you fall asleep with the TV on? Do you scroll through social media until you feel tired enough to sleep? Tonight, try something different and turn off all of the electronics before you lay down. The darker environment will help with melatonin production in your brain. Also, TV and phone/tablet screens emit a blue light that can hinder melatonin production, so it actually makes it more difficult to fall asleep if you have the TV on in your bedroom or you scroll through your phone for an hour before you try to fall asleep.

Don’t Lie in Bed Awake

If you’re trying all of these natural tips for falling asleep at night (and staying asleep through the night), and you’re still not able to fall asleep 20 minutes after going to bed, don’t lie in bed awake. Get up and do something calming like listening to relaxing music or reading a good book. Try to avoid turning the TV or scrolling through your phone. The goal is to relax your body and your mind so that you can fall asleep and wake up with new energy in the morning.
